James Salander, MD, FACS is a vascular surgeon, certified by the American Board of Surgery in both Vascular Surgery and General Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery. He has over 30 years of experience, and is devoted to problems of arteries, veins, and lymphatics. He has a long-standing and special interest in the treatment of symptomatic varicose veins. 

After his internship, residency and fellowship Dr. Salander practiced vascular and general surgery in the US Army. His last assignment was as Chief of Vascular Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical center in Washington DC. He left the Army after 23 years of service and was in solo private practice in Rockville Maryland as a vascular Surgeon for 26 years. Dr. Salander believes that education and prevention are the keys to good health. We are delighted to have him join the George Washington Medical Faculty Associates.
