Biography

Jill Fonda Allen, MS, CGC is a board-certified genetic counselor with the Maternal Fetal Medicine program in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Ms. Fonda provides genetic counseling for individuals who are planning to become or who are currently pregnant. She provides counseling regarding prenatal screening, carrier screening and prenatal diagnosis. She also sees individuals and couples who have an abnormal test or ultrasound result, family history of a genetic condition or birth defect, as well as pregnant patients taking medication or having other exposures.

Ms. Fonda received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the Pennsylvania State University. She then attended Sarah Lawrence College to earn a Master's degree in Human Genetics/Genetic Counseling. Her first position as a genetic counselor was at Children's National Medical Center, working first in pediatric genetics and later with prenatal patients in the Center for Prenatal Evaluation at Children's Hospital. Since leaving Children's Ms. Fonda has been the senior genetic counselor at a busy suburban Washington area MFM practice. She is excited to be back in Washington working at a major academic medical center with so many resources available to enable excellent patient care and the highest level of up-to-date prenatal screening and testing to our patients.
