Biography

Joy Melton joined The GW Medical Faculty Associates in October 2021 as a Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, M Street.   

Joy is board certified with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner of Primary Care with over 12 years of clinical experience with work in Primary care – Family Medicine, Addiction Medicine (Alcohol & Opiate Recovery), OB/GYN, critical care, emergency medicine/observation clinical care management and pediatrics. She is currently trained in primary care and hospitalist rounding. She has proven ability to assess, diagnose, evaluate, and plan optimal course of treatment, while implementing evidence-based practice for patients being served. She has also prompt and efficient analytical skills, team resource management, and problem-solving skills as a primary care nurse practitioner.  

She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing/Minor in Pedology (Study of Infants, Children, and Families) 05/2009 at Bowie State University in Bowie, MD. 

She completed her Master of Science in Nursing – Primary Care Nurse Practitioner from South University in Savannah, GA 11/2016. She completed her residency training in Washington DC under Providence Hospital.  

Joy nominated for Doctor’s Day 03/2020 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. Nominated as Best Family Practice Provider -09/2019 in Hagerstown, MD. Nominated in the Impact Magazine Fall 2018 for excellent primary care provider making strides in clinical partnerships and community initiatives serving Hagerstown MD, Frederick MD, West Virginia and Northern Pennsylvania region.
