Sophie Griffith, MS, is a cancer genetic counselor who joined the Department of Hematology and Oncology at the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates in June 2022. She provides genetic counseling for people with personal or family histories of cancer, as well as individuals with a personal or family history of a cancer-predisposing genetic variant.

Griffith has a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology from Georgetown University and a Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. During graduate school, Griffith collaborated with local Hispanic community leaders to evaluate barriers to cancer care, community education methods, and the potential uptake of chatbots for cancer genetic screening amongst Hispanic adults. She has also completed training in LGBTQ+ and multicultural healthcare provision. Griffith is passionate about continuing to find ways to increase access to cancer genetic counseling and cancer genetic testing for all marginalized communities.

Outside of the clinic, Griffith loves to walk around DC’s neighborhoods and green spaces, cook delicious dinners, explore new restaurants, and travel.
