Alan Wasserman, MD is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He currently serves as the Eugene Meyer Professor of Medicine and a department chair at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. He is also the chair of the Council of Clinical Chairs at the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates.
Dr. Wasserman is a graduate of Hahnemann Medical College. He completed a residency at Abington Memorial Hospital and a fellowship in cardiology at The George Washington University Medical Center. After completing an extra year devoted to research, Dr. Wasserman spent an additional year at three separate institutions, NIH, Yale and Johns Hopkins learning the then new field of nuclear cardiology. He then returned to The George Washington University Medical Center where he established the first nuclear cardiology laboratory in the Washington, DC area.
Dr. Wasserman is a Master of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. His clinical and research activities have comprised areas of cardiology including cardiac imaging, ischemic heart disease and preventive cardiology.
