Biography

Darshana Bhattacharyya, MD is a dual-boarded psychiatrist with The GW Medical Faculty Associates. She is board-certified in Psychiatry and Family Medicine and completed a combined residency at the University of Cincinnati, where she served as Chief Resident. During residency, she sought additional training in psychotherapy, including certification in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD (CPT). She received her Medical Degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Berkeley.  

She previously worked as a rural psychiatrist in Central Minnesota, HIV research associate at the J. David Gladstone Institutes, and intramural research fellow in epidemiology at the National Institutes of Health. Her clinical interests include women’s health and perinatal psychiatry, HIV psychiatry, global health, disparities in access to mental health care, gender-affirming care, PTSD, and the integration of mental health and primary care.
