Biography

Laure Experton, MD is an instructor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Studies at the GW School of Medicine & Health Sciences, and a psychiatrist with the GW Medical Faculty Associates. She completed her residency at Georgetown University, where she served as Chief Resident. During residency, she sought additional training in psychotherapy and global health. She completed her fellowship at the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis and was on the Global Health Equity track. She holds her Medical Degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a Bachelor of Science from McGill University, Canada. 

Dr. Experton has collaborated with the global health organization MUSO to improve access to mental health care in Mali. She is an active member of the Society for the Study of Psychiatry and Culture. She has conducted research in HIV and women’s health resulting in several peer-reviewed publications. Recognized for her dedication to teaching and education, she has received several awards from the Georgetown University School of Medicine and the American Psychiatric Association.
