Louisa Whitesides, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the GW School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She is also a part of the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Care at The GW Medical Faculty Associates.
Dr. Whitesides received her medical degree from Emory University in 2016. She completed her Residency in Internal Medicine- Primary Care at the University of Pennsylvania in 2019. Dr. Whitesides has been a Geriatrics fellow at George Washington University for the past academic year. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and is board eligible in Geriatric Medicine. She is licensed in the District of Columbia.
Dr. Whitesides has interests in medical education, medical ethics, and innovations in healthcare delivery. While in residency, she worked on multiple projects designed to introduce Narrative Medicine to residents. She has also published a number of articles on the ethics of informed consent in emergency trials and therapeutic misconception in cancer research.
During fellowship, Dr. Whitesides worked at both The GW Medical Faculty Associates and the Washington, DC VA. On faculty, she looks forward to caring for and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students about primary and memory care for older adults.
