Biography

Susan Stein, MD is board-certified in General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery. She is an assistant clinical professor with The George Washington School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She completed a fellowship in colorectal surgery at The Carle Clinic. Dr. Stein earned her medical degree at Drexel Medical College and completed her surgical residency at The George Washington University Medical Center. She is listed as a "Top Doctor" in Washingtonian and Checkbook magazines. Dr. Stein has practiced colorectal surgery exclusively since 1983, and has expertise in colonoscopy, laparoscopic and open surgery, and anal physiology for the diagnosis and treatment of colon, rectal and anal problems. She is particularly interested in problems of the pelvic floor and anal canal, and the application of new techniques such as the STARR procedure for constipation and the Sacral Nerve Stimulator for fecal incontinence, as well as, new treatments for hemorrhoids, anal infections, gastrointestinal cancer, rectal prolapse and anal bleeding.

Dr. Stein is a Washingtonian magazine Top Doc and the Castle Connolly Top Doctor.
