A Phase 3, Placebo-Controlled, Double-Blinded, Randomized Study to Evaluate the Efficacy, Safety, and Tolerability of a Clostridioides difficile Vaccine in Adults 65 Years of Age and Older

This study is designed to find out if the investigational vaccine can prevent severe diarrhea caused by C. difficile and/or reduce the severity of illness, amount of medical care, or use of antibiotics in adults 65 years of age and older. Participants will have about 8 visits (in-person and telephone) and receive compensation for their time and travel. 

Individuals invited to join are 65 years of age or older, no previous diagnosis of C. diff, and have at least one of the following:

  • Hospitalized or had 2 ER visits in the last year
  • Taken an antibiotic in the last 12 weeks
  • At least 10 healthcare visits in the last year
  • Scheduled to be hospitalized or have an elective surgery
