Biography

Pritha Ghosh, MD is board-certified in Neurology and is a clinical assistant professor at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences.  She received her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Ghosh completed her internal medicine internship at Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and trained in neurology at Georgetown University Hospital. She also completed a fellowship in movement disorders at the National Institutes of Health, where she focused her clinical work on Parkinson’s disease (PD) and deep brain stimulation for the treatment of PD and other movement disorders.

Her clinical interests include Parkinson’s disease, deep brain stimulation, tremor, dystonia, and other movement disorders. In addition to being trained in the evaluation and treatment of candidates for deep brain stimulation therapy, Dr. Ghosh is skilled in the use of botulinum injections for treating dystonia.  Dr. Ghosh is a published author. While at the NIH, she was the lead investigator of a study of imaging biomarkers of PD and has also been involved in the development of objective measures of Parkinsonian symptoms.

Dr. Ghosh is a clinical educator.  As director of the medical student clerkship in Neurology, she is devoted to educating students, but also strives to teach Parkinson patients, their family members and the community- at-large about Parkinson’s disease. She has spoken at national conferences, and is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Neurology, the Movement Disorders Society and the American Society for Experimental Neurotherapeutics.
