Biography

Robin D. Toler, MD serves as a psychiatric hospitalist and the Medical Director of the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. She holds the academic rank of assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the GW School of Medicine & Health Sciences.

Board certified in general psychiatry and addiction medicine, Robin Toler, MD, is an experienced psychiatric hospitalist and addictions specialist who has spent much of her career in Washington, DC, and Maryland. Most recently, Dr. Toler served as the Medical Director of Maryland House Detox in Linthicum Heights, MD, and Redeem Medical Health Care in Baltimore. She has also served as the chair of the departments of psychiatry at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD, and at United Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Toler has held faculty appointments at Howard University School of Medicine, the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and the GW School of Medicine & Health Sciences.

Dr. Toler received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her internship in family medicine and her psychiatry residency at the University of Maryland. Dr. Toler is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Outstanding Psychiatrist of the Year Award from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill in New Jersey.
