Biography

Sheetal Sheth, MD, is a board-certified Obstetrician & Gynecologist at The GW Medical Faculty Associates and an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. Dr. Sheth currently serves as the Medical Director of Labor and Delivery. She is originally from Buffalo, New York where she received her undergraduate degree in English. Dr. Sheth attended SUNY at Buffalo's School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and completed her OBGYN training at George Washington University Hospital. During her residency, she received myriad awards including one for outstanding teaching and the MFA's Attending Association resident of the year. Dr. Sheth is rejoining the GW community after practicing in Alexandria, Virginia. Her true passion is teaching residents, medical students and patients alike. After the birth of her two children, she is able to better empathize with patients and counsel them not only on the birthing process but what comes after — breastfeeding, family planning etc. Dr. Sheth is a true advocate for natural childbirth and vaginal births after cesarean sections. Dr. Sheth has a particular interest in nutrition during pregnancy, family planning, adolescent gynecology, minimally invasive surgery/laparoscopy, medical education and international health. Dr. Sheth has travelled abroad to provide care to women with limited access to gynecologic care. She speaks Spanish and Gujrathi in addition to conversational French.
