Biography

Fayez Estephan, MD, joined as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology & Oncology at the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences and GW Cancer Center. 

Dr. Estephan was awarded his Medical Degree from Damascus University Faculty of Medicine in Damascus, Syria. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine from MedStar Health System in Baltimore, Maryland. After practicing as an attending in Hospital Medicine, Dr. Estephan completed a three-year fellowship training in Hematology & Oncology from George Washington University (GW).  

Prior to his Internal Medicine Residency, Dr. Estephan worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Cleveland Clinic in a lab focused on malignant blood disorders. During his residency, he pursued post-doctoral oncology research training at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University, where he focused on primary central nervous system lymphoma. As a fellow at GW, he developed an interest in solid tumors and joined a research project focused on prostate cancer therapeutic targets and biomarkers.   

Dr. Estephan has published in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. His special interests include gastrointestinal and genitourinary malignancies.     

Dr. Estephan is committed to his patients' care and dedicated to providing the best available individualized therapies to them.  

Dr. Estephan is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Hematology, and board-eligible for Medical Oncology. He is licensed in the District of Columbia.
